Christina Simpson

Christina (Chris) Samuelson Simpson and her family operate the S BAR S cattle and Quarter Horse Ranch beneath the Oxford mountain range in Malad, Idaho. The love of ranching and the lifestyle they have been allowed to live has directed her to western art, what she lives and knows. Chris is the daughter of artist Stanford Samuelson, one of the artists that painted scenes of the old west in the famous Cowboy Bar in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, in the early 1950s. Chris was exposed to oil painting due to her father’s career.
In her early teens, she won her Jr. High School art show competition and continued commissioning western portraits into her 20s, when she was exposed to sculpturing and was hooked.
Raising a family, ranching and life put the art on hold for a few years until her husband, Tom, became ill, and while caring for him, she sculptured Tom with his favorite horse and cow dog titled “Visit with the Boss.” That launched her back into sculpturing and capturing the images and events she knows and loves. Most of the sculpturing takes place in the evenings on long winter nights due to the demands on the Ranch. Her latest bronze, “FOR ALL THAT I HAVE,” was truly inspired by the blessings she and her family have had, the experiences of ranch life and the beauty surrounding them, and the desire to share those moments in bronze.
